Privacy policy
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Golden Knot LLC, doing business as Bielline ("Bielline", "we", "us"), is the data controller responsible for personal information collected through bielline.com (the "Site") and our related services. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have. You can reach us about any privacy matter at hello@bielline.com or by mail at 30 N Gould St Ste 45741, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States.
1. Personal information we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number.
- Order information: the dresses you order and, because every Bielline dress is made to order, the sizes and body measurements you provide. Measurements are used only to produce and support your order, never for advertising or profiling.
- Payment information: processed securely by Shopify Payments and other payment processors. We never see or store your full card details.
- Account and transaction information: order history, Fit Guarantee claims, and preferences you save with us.
- Communications: messages you send us by email or through the contact form, kept so we can help with your order and fit questions.
- Device and usage information: collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies (IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and referral source).
2. Where it comes from
Directly from you (when you order, write to us, or join our newsletter); automatically from your device when you browse the Site; and from service providers such as Shopify, payment processors, and analytics providers acting on our behalf.
3. How we use it
- To make and deliver your dress: production to your measurements, payment processing, shipping, and order updates. (UK/EEA legal basis: performance of a contract.)
- To support you: answering messages, honouring the Fit Guarantee, processing refunds and tailoring credits. (Contract and legitimate interests.)
- To market, only with your consent: our email newsletter if you have signed up. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and buying from us never requires joining the list. (Consent.)
- To keep the store safe: fraud prevention, security monitoring, and error diagnosis. (Legitimate interests.)
- To meet legal obligations: tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests. (Legal obligation.)
4. Cookies and tracking
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember preferences, measure how the store performs, and support advertising. You can control cookies in your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect checkout. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where we can detect it; we do not respond to other "Do Not Track" signals, for which no industry standard exists.
5. How we disclose personal information
We share personal information only as needed to run the store:
- Shopify: our ecommerce platform, which hosts the Site and processes orders and customer data on our behalf.
- Our production atelier: first name and measurements only, to make your dress.
- Shipping carriers: name, address, and phone number, to deliver it.
- Payment processors and fraud-prevention services: to take payment securely.
- Analytics and advertising partners: device and usage information (never your measurements) to understand and improve how the store performs. Where this counts as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under US state privacy laws, you can opt out (see section 9).
- Legal and business: where required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger or sale, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
We never sell your personal information for money.
6. Our relationship with Shopify
The Site is powered by Shopify, which processes personal information as our processor and, for certain purposes described in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy, as an independent controller. That policy also describes rights you can exercise directly with Shopify.
7. Third-party websites and links
The Site may link to websites we do not operate (including our social media profiles). Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies. Anything you share publicly on social platforms may be viewable by others without restriction.
8. Security and retention
We use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, and payment is handled by PCI-compliant processors, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep order records as long as needed to support your order and meet legal retention requirements (typically 7 years for transaction records); correspondence is kept while it remains useful for supporting you; marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including the UK, EU, and certain US states), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a portable copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements;
- opt out of targeted advertising or "sharing" of personal information, via the GPC signal (section 4) or by emailing us;
- unsubscribe from marketing at any time via the link in any of our emails.
To exercise any right, email hello@bielline.com. We respond within one business day, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm ET. We will verify your request using the email address associated with your order, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorised agent where your local law provides for one.
10. Additional rights in the UK and EEA
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to restrict processing in certain circumstances, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing before withdrawal). The legal bases we rely on are listed alongside each purpose in section 3.
11. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first at hello@bielline.com: we take this seriously and answer quickly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in the EEA, a list of supervisory authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board, and in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
12. International transfers
We operate from the United States, and your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by the service providers in section 5. Where UK or EU data protection law applies, transfers rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum or International Data Transfer Agreement.
13. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information, nor do we have actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the current version is always published at this address with its "last updated" date, and material changes will be notified as required by law.
